Resolution
This page explains how resolution works in the FASHN app for both images and videos. In FASHN, resolution is not only about output size. Each resolution option is tied to a specific AI model variant, which affects detail preservation, realism, prompt following, and how well the tool handles different workflows.
There are two main groups of resolution options:
- Image resolutions: Precise 1K, Balanced 4K, Creative 4K
- Video resolutions: 480p, 720p, 1080p
User feedback shows that there is no single best option that works for everyone. Each resolution has a distinct character, which different users prefer for different tasks. Because of this, FASHN continues to support all of them.
Image Resolutions
Image resolution options at a glance
In the image generation tools you will see three resolution options:
- Precise 1K
- Balanced 4K
- Creative 4K
Each of these is powered by a slightly different AI architecture or version. That means each one has its own behavior and visual style. The sections below describe where each option works best and what trade offs to expect.
Precise 1K
Precise 1K is the default resolution for all image tools in the FASHN app. It is the fastest, most reliable, and most accurate AI model currently available in the product.
Key characteristics:
- Best at preserving product and model details at 1K
- Follows instructions well
- Fast generations, around 10 seconds compared to 30 to 40 seconds for the 4K variants
- Supports precise edits to specific areas without changing the rest of the image
- For example: adjusting hand position or tilting the head while leaving the pose and composition intact
Limitations of Precise 1K
Despite its strengths, Precise 1K has two important limitations compared to its 4K variants:
-
Restricted to 1K resolution
- Even though the app includes upscaling options, some product details cannot be faithfully captured at 1K resolution.
- Fine details such as delicate embroidery may be lost when the image is generated at 1K, even if the overall Product to Model or Model Swap result looks correct.
-
Weaker performance with multiple images
- Precise 1K excels in single image editing.
- It does not perform as well when multiple images are processed at once.
- For use cases such as try on, where a garment is placed on a specific model photo, strong multi image capability is important and this is not where Precise 1K is strongest.
Creative 4K
Creative 4K is a 4K focused image model with a distinct aesthetic.
Visual characteristics:
- Outputs often look dreamy, grainy, and slightly noisy
- Generated models can appear more realistic but less diverse in appearance, unless you use very specific prompts about the model’s looks
- The aesthetic tends to split preferences: some users enjoy the artistic look, while others prefer the cleaner visuals of Precise 1K. Creative 4K fans often feel that Precise 1K looks more noticeably AI generated.
Functional characteristics:
- Processes your product or model photos natively at 4K
- This is important for preserving detailed textures and fine features at higher resolution
- Less precise in following localized instructions compared to Precise 1K
- For example, if you ask: “make the model’s hand touch her cheek, keep the rest of the pose exactly the same”, Creative 4K may change the pose or composition more than necessary
Multi image handling:
- Performs better than Precise 1K when working with multiple images
- For use cases where you want to see garments or accessories on a specific model by swapping clothes, Creative 4K generally handles this better than Precise 1K
Tool availability:
- Creative 4K is not offered for tools that require very precise control, such as:
- Model Swap
- Brush Edit
- Background Change
- In these tools, its failure rate for accurate localized edits is too high, so it is intentionally disabled.
Plan availability:
- 4K resolutions are available in the Pro and Agency plans.
Balanced 4K
Balanced 4K is the latest 4K image model and is designed to bridge the gap between Precise 1K and Creative 4K.
Aesthetic characteristics:
- Visually closer to the clean, neutral look of Precise 1K than to the more dreamy Creative 4K style
- Produces sharp details in 4K resolution
- Delivers superb realism for model creation, often making models appear almost indistinguishable from real life
Reliability characteristics:
- Not as precise as Precise 1K for the most demanding localized edits
- Still quite reliable overall, especially compared to Creative 4K
- Offers a strong balance between edit accuracy and high resolution detail
Smart resolution behavior
Balanced 4K uses a smarter output resolution mechanism than Creative 4K:
- The output resolution matches the input image resolution
- If the input product image is 1K, the output is 1K
- If the input is 2K, the output is 2K
- If the input is 4K, the output is 4K
- The tool does not upscale your images automatically
- This behavior keeps the model more faithful to your original model or product
- It reduces hallucinated details that would go beyond what the model can actually see in the input
Tool availability and use cases
Because Balanced 4K is more reliable than Creative 4K, it is available in more tools:
- Model Swap
- Brush Edit
- Background Change
Like Creative 4K, Balanced 4K is also more reliable than Precise 1K when handling edits involving multiple images, such as Try On workflows that combine a model and a product.
Credit usage
- Balanced 4K is the only image resolution that costs more than the others.
- It uses 2 credits per image instead of 1.
Video Resolutions
Video resolution in FASHN is organized differently from image resolution. Instead of Precise 1K, Balanced 4K, and Creative 4K, video models are available in familiar video standards:
- 480p
- 720p
- 1080p
How video resolutions map to AI models
As with images, these video resolutions do not simply represent different output sizes of a single generator. Each resolution corresponds to a different AI video model variant that is optimized for that specific resolution and fidelity level.
Because of this, differences between 480p, 720p, and 1080p appear not only in the resolution, but also in aesthetic quality and behavior.
Quality vs resolution
In the FASHN app, higher video resolution also implies a higher quality AI model:
- Better adherence to prompts
- More realistic motion
- More consistent subjects for models and products across frames
Credit usage for videos
The credit cost increases with resolution. The current structure is:
- 480p: 1 credit
- 720p: 3 credits
- 1080p: 6 credits
Plan based model selection
At the moment, the video model that powers your generations is determined by your subscription plan:
- Basic plan: 480p model
- Pro plan: 720p model
- Agency plan: 1080p model
